Qualifications for Admission

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications for admission to the Doggie Spa Academy Professional Grooming Program:

• Be physically capable of independently lifting at least 35 pounds.
• Be able to read and understand English-language instructional materials.
• Be physically capable of safely operating grooming tools and equipment.
• Be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
• Be able to bend, lift, and perform the physical tasks required in a professional grooming environment.
• Not have an extreme aversion to fleas, ticks, animal hair, urine, feces, or other conditions commonly encountered while grooming.
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in working with and caring for animals.
• Not be under the influence of medications or substances that impair the safe handling of animals, operation of grooming equipment, or the ability to understand and follow instructor directions.
