As students gain experience, they are expected to progress according to the following benchmarks:

  • 100 Hours: Complete a bath, brush, and basic grooming procedures within 4 hours.
  • 150 Hours: Complete a rough cut, bath, brush, and basic grooming procedures within 4 hours.
  • 240 Hours: Complete one finished groom within 4 hours, including all finishing work.

  • 540 Hours: Become eligible to complete the final practical examination by grooming four designated test animals within an eight-hour period, provided all written tests, practical examinations, and other program requirements have been successfully completed.

Students who do not maintain satisfactory progress may be placed on a two-week probationary period. Failure to demonstrate sufficient improvement during this period may result in dismissal from the program without refund.

Testing Requirements

Students are required to complete the CPR written examination during the first week of training. All remaining written examinations may be taken when the student and instructor agree the student is adequately prepared.

Practical examinations will assess the student's ability to safely and competently groom the designated test breeds and apply the skills learned throughout the program.

The grading system equals

100% to 91% = A
90 % to 81% = B
80 % to 75% = C
